YOU KNOW YOU LOVE THEM, BUT DO YOU ALWAYS LIKE THEM?
Julie @ blessed with five posted this on her blog the other day and I liked the post so much I asked if I could post it on mine. Thanks Julie :)
I want to pick your brain a bit . . . YOU KNOW YOU LOVE THEM, BUT DO YOU ALWAYS LIKE THEM? That is the question I present to you . . . I am speaking of your children. You know you love your children, but do you always like them?
My boys brought me to the realization some time ago that you they think in both love and like. Example - "Mommy, I Love You . . . and I Like You too!" Do your kids say things like that?
As a Mom, I Love each of my children, but there are times I really don't like what they do very much!
It is so easy to love AND like your children when everything is going well, the children are being obedient, getting along and having a great time. However, when the children decide they want to do their own thing, regardless of what they have been told or what the "rules" are . . . it is more likely that you don't like the person they are choosing to be at that time.
Now for a twist . . . God Loves You, but does he ALWAYS like you? Does he like the person you choose to be? God's Word tells us over and over that God Loves us - that we can be certain of, but if you are honest about yourself, you will know in your heart there are times that God cannot possibly like the person you choose to be. God cannot tolerate our sin and even though he Loves us like no other can, he cannot possibly like our sinful selves.
There are days when I am disciplining my children, I hear myself say . . . "How Many Times Have I Told You Not to . . . ?"
How Many Times Has GOD Told Me Not To . . . but I choose to do it anyway? Too Many!!!
God continues to LOVE me . . . regardless of my "not using my brain to think" he continues to TEACH me . . . regardless of my "reluctance to learn."
GOD IS THE ULTIMATE PARENT . . . the ULTIMATE ROLE MODEL!
